On October 30th and 31st, Ms. Nemer attended and presented at the Ohio TESOL Conference in Columbus, Ohio. TESOL stands for, "Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages." The theme of this year's conference was to, "Advocate, Advance, Achieve," which is what we do on a daily basis at Barberton City Schools. Many valuable takeaways were gained from the conference sessions that will be used with our English learners. Ms. Nemer presented on, "Connecting Culture to the Classroom." The purpose of this presentation was to show the importance of connecting culture to students in the classroom and methods of doing so.
